About Chooky
Runner · Mum · Traveller · Storyteller
G'day, I'm Kim-Louise, aka Chooky
I'm a mum, traveller, runner and storyteller in my late 40s, living in beautiful Queensland, Australia.
For almost 30 years, my husband Grundy and I built a life grounded in love, adventure and resilience. Grundy passed away in July 2026. Now I'm learning to carry both the love we shared and the grief of losing him, while finding my way forward.
I'm a proud mum to three amazing adult munchkins. As a family we've faced cancer, loss and changes no family is ever ready for. Through it all, we keep leaning on strength, hope and one another.
I found running in early 2024, and it quickly became more than exercise. It's where I find clarity, test my limits and reconnect with myself. It's opened the door to new goals, unexpected joy and a deeper respect for what the body and mind can do, at any pace.
I also love travel and slow adventure: exploring new places, chasing start lines and making memories, whether I'm on the road or at home with my family.
Life isn't always easy. It can be messy, hard and deeply unfair. But it's the only one we get. Chasing dreams, attempting the impossible and finding joy in the small, ordinary moments has taught me one thing above all.
Forward is still forward, no matter the pace.

Why This Blog Exists
This space is for women over 40 finding their way back to themselves. I write about running, travel and the ordinary ways I keep choosing life: the highs and lows, the kilometres run, the trips taken and the moments that make it all worth living.
My hope is that these stories encourage you to keep choosing life too, gently, imperfectly and on your own terms.
Chooky xx

MY PEOPLE
Family is the heart of everything I do.
They're my home base, my strength and my greatest joy. Beyond running, travel and everyday life, everything here begins and ends with family: the people who ground me and move me forward.
